Tips for Managing Caregiver Stress

Managing your own stress is vital while caring for a loved one. If your needs are not met it will be difficult for you to meet the needs of the one you are caring for.

Seek support from family members, friends or professionals in order to assist you with the stresses of caregiving

Get Active

Physical activity in any form will help decrease stress. So go on a walk, work in the garden or dance to your favorite music.

Relaxation Techniques

Visualization : Picture yourself at location that is peaceful and calm
Breathing exercises : Slow your breathing, take deep breaths through nose and out of mouth
Muscle Relaxation : Starting from head and moving down to your toes tense your muscles and then completely relax each muscle group

Make time for yourself

Even if it is only 30 minutes a week, allow yourself to ask for help from others. Taking care of yourself allows you to take care of the one you love better.

Take Care of Yourself

Make sure your health is not suffering, go to see Dr., eat healthy foods and get plenty of rest.
